BE MORE LIKE IVAN

I love all the life lessons we can be taught from books. This week in my One and Only Ivan Class we talked about what life experiences Bob (a stray and sometimes grumpy dog) has been through that may impact his personality. We discussed how Ivan and Julia see Bob compared to other humans.

We connected this to our world by thinking about how people may go through experiences that impact their attitudes and personalities, too. What can we do to be a Julia or an Ivan in today’s world?

This book is great for young minds to ready! It is about animals and addresses a very real issue. How do we treat animals in our society?
It gives us hope that we can all change our world. From a small cage in a mall, Ivan is able to make a difference in not only his life, but that of his young responsibility.

It teaches empathy, empathy for humans and animals. It is a kind book, though it tells an unkind story.
